Closure Policies & Procedures
Planned Holiday Closures
Scholars First Education observes all major federal holidays. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, the center will be closed on the preceding Friday. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, the center will be closed on the following Monday. These dates are finalized and updated in our annual logic calendar by December of the previous year.
Inclement Weather & Reopen Dates
In the event of severe weather or local emergencies, Scholars First Education typically follows the closure decisions of the local school district. Parents will be notified of closures and confirmed reopen dates via our automated SMS system and email list by 6:00 AM on the day of the event. We strive to reopen as soon as local safety conditions allow.
Professional Development Days
To maintain our high standards of childcare, we schedule quarterly staff development half-days. On these dates, the center will close at 12:30 PM. These dates are highlighted in our operations calendar and reminders are sent to parents two weeks in advance to allow for scheduling adjustments.
Tuition During Closures
Weekly tuition remains consistent regardless of planned holiday closures or inclement weather events. This policy ensures we can maintain our high-quality staff and facility standards year-round. For extended breaks listed as 'Closed' in the calendar above, specific credit information will be provided in the preceding month's newsletter.
